Dear MAK Parents and Guardians,
The Annual Fund is an exciting time when we can come together as a community to enhance our students’ learning experience and environment. By working together, the Annual Fund is an opportunity for our community to give generously and take ownership of the school facilities.
Our goal for this year’s Annual Fund is to raise 1,000,000 NT with a 100% participation rate from Monday, February 6th through Friday, April 28th, 2023. We hope everyone can maximize this opportunity to “MAKe a Difference” for our school. The Annual Fund will renovate and update the Covered Play Area (CPA).
In renovating the CPA, the goal will be to make the space more usable and functional by adding the following:
- New acrylic athletic surface for P.E., ASA, MS/HS athletics (i.e., significantly less dust)
- Storage for P.E. Equipment
- Audio and visual improvements for chapel and staff orientations
- “And More”
Please pray and consider how you would like to contribute to this year’s Annual Fund. We appreciate all and any contributions made by our community. If you have any questions about giving to the Annual Fund, or if you need a donation reciept, please contact the school’s cashier, Ms. Connie Chang.
Thank you for your generous support – Let’s Go, Sharks!
Sincerely,
Dr. Kim
Sharks!
校長 金德民 教育博士 敬謝
*一如往常,請自由參與及捐款。
Sincerely,
Dr. Kim
It was a cool day in Kaohsiung on Monday afternoon… but NOT on the courts and fields of MAK where passion and school spirit burned with the fire of a thousand suns! We welcomed the MAC Mustangs to town. All three teams, JV Boys Volleyball, Varsity Boys Volleyball, and a ridiculously young Varsity Girls Soccer team, faced off against their Mustang counterpart. What followed was an intense two hours of sport. THANK YOU to the numerous fans; parents, students and staff, who came out, roving from game to game, trying to soak up all the action. The atmosphere was electric. What made it even better was the sweet taste of VICTORY, as ALL THREE MAK teams triumphed, defeating MAC in three close, well-contested games. Way to go, SHARKS!
JV Boys Volleyball
The JV boys faced yet another tough early season challenge from MAC, but came out victorious, 2-0 (26-24, 27-25). It was a spectacular effort by your JV Sharks as they held off the Mustangs in two intense sets that both went past 25. This team is only getting stronger and more confident! Well done!
Varsity Boys Volleyball
In their first game of the season, the Varsity Boys at times looked like a much more experienced lot. The mental fortitude and emotional control demonstrated by the Sharks was off the charts at times. Your Sharks found themselves down 2 sets to 1 having lost the 3rd set 10-25. This would be the time for some teams to check out, fold in the last set and call it a day… not this MAK squad. They fought back to claim last two sets in decisive fashion, ultimately winning 3-2 (25-27, 25-22, 10-25, 25-20, 15-10). Masterful job from this senior-led team!
Varsity Girls Soccer
What to do with a group of eager but inexperienced, mostly 9th grade, girls who come out to form a soccer team? In Sharkland, you make them the Varsity Girls Soccer team and watch them break down a much older, more experienced foe in their first game! With no seniors and a handful of 11th and 10th graders, this mostly 9th grade (and one dynamic 8th grader) team rose to the challenge. They defeated MAC 4-3 after a heart-poundingly exciting second half! A brace of goals by said 8th grader led the way as three Sharks got in on the scoring! Way to go!!

The MAK HS strings orchestra enjoyed performing and collaborating with the MAT (Morrison Taipei) students last week. They also had opportunities to work with beginning violin students and observe how Mrs. Harding, the orchestra director at MAT leads her students. We enjoyed hearing testimonies from several MAT staff and how God has used their musical abilities to lead them into serving Him and others. At the combined concert, we performed a total of eight different pieces from different genres. Two of our high school students Jonathan Hsieh (G11) and James Lei (G12) were featured as soloists.
We are excited to share with you that LIFE DAY is coming up on Friday, March 17th! Life Day is a special day of school set aside for our MS & HS to grow together in our spiritual formation journey. There are no classes on this day, and instead, we will do some different activities together to help us learn and grow.
The theme for this year is:
On Life Day, students will have a chance to:
- Hear from our guest speaker, Mr. Uwe Maurer (Founder of Taiwan Sunshine).
- Spend time reflecting and discussing what they are learning about a “lifestyle of service”.
- Participate in hands-on service activities (some on and off campus).
- Be His (Jesus’) Hands & Feet to the people around us!
Please pray for us as we prepare for Life Day, and we look forward to this day of learning and growing together!
Counseling Center Event March 16 at 2pm, Advanced Placement and High School Course Selection.
Join Mr. Newkirk on March 16th to learn about MAK’s Advanced Placement program. He will cover what it is, how students apply for courses, the coursework expectations, and how AP fits with university applications. The session will also review how course selection works at MAK as we look forward to the 23-24 school year.
