Greetings MAK Parents and Guardians, 

Once again, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the new 2021-22 academic school year.  Also, thank you so much for your continued support in following all Covid-19 government regulations.  Your efforts are making MAK a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff.  Thank you for working together, as all students benefit from your involvement with the school.  

Please read below for some very important announcements.   

Education Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government Visits MAK: 

Last week, the Education Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government visited MAK to inspect our campus.  After reviewing all of the school’s safety protocols for Covid-19, we are glad to share that MAK received positive remarks from the government representative and was very impressed with MAK’s efforts in following all Covid-19 regulations.  

TIME CHANGE – Bus Departure Time at Dismissal:

MAK bus departure time at dismissal will be changed effective Monday, August 23, 2021.  Beginning Monday, school busses will now depart at 3:25 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.  For Tuesdays and Thursdays, school busses will now depart at 4:25 pm.  The 5:40pm HS Shuttle Bus will be unaffected. The change is a 5 minutes earlier departure every day, which will reduce waiting times for students.  Parents, please ensure that you adjust your child’s pick-up times from the bus stops.  

NEW PICK UP PROCEDURES:

MAK is always striving for a safe and secure environment for our students, staff, and parents.  For this reason, effective Monday, August 23rd, MAK will streamline and have one pick-up dismissal plan:  

1. Teachers will NO LONGER be walking students to the Pick-Up Zone area at dismissal time. 
2. After school, parents picking up their children will park and wait inside their vehicles along the Pick-Up Zone Area.  
3. At 3:25 pm (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) / 4:25 pm (ASA: Tuesday and Thursday), when all school busses have departed, parents will be permitted to drive to the designated curb area by the school office to pick up their children.
4. To ensure safety, students must stay in the designated curb area by the school office. No crossing the school’s driveway at all times.  
5. Kindergarten, 1st-grade, and 2nd-grade students will be sitting along the two benches
   
6. Parents, please print, complete, and place this placard on the right side of the windshield to expedite student pick-up
7. Please drive safely and slowly. 
   

Online Meet the Teacher: 

MAK’s Online Meet the Teacher for elementary, middle school, and high school will be pushed back to Friday, September 10th.  Due to Covid-19 government regulations, parents are not permitted on campus at this time and for this reason. MAK will provide a website that will provide prerecorded messages from all of its teachers.  In order to plan and prepare accordingly, the Meet the Teacher website will be available on Friday, September 10th, 2021 at the end of the school day.

高雄市教育局到校查訪：

上週，高雄市教育局到校查訪。在審查了學校針對Covid-19防疫規章所作出的安全防疫措施後，教育局代表給予了學校正面的肯定，表示佩服學校在遵守 Covid-19防疫規章方面所做的努力。

時間調整：校車放學時發車時間

校車放學發車時間將會於八月23日(一)起更改。校車將會在禮拜一、三、五於下午3：25發車；禮拜二，四於下午4:25發車。高中生晚班校車將仍於5:40發車，不受影響。提早五分鐘發車是為了減少學生等待的時間，讓他們可以早一點回家。家長們請視情況調整您們去校車停靠站接小孩的時間，謝謝。

放學接送新規範：

學校一直致力於為我們的學生、教職員和家長營造一個安全可靠的環境。因此，從八月23日(星期一)開始，學校將簡化並制定一個新的放學接送規範：

1. 在放學時間，教師們將不再帶學生到家長接送區。
2. 在放學時間，來接小孩回家的家長們需將車子停在家長接送區，並在車上等待。
3. 在週一、三、五，下午3:25；週二、四，下午4:25，當校車發車離校後，家長即可將車輛開到在辦公室前的彎道，將在迴廊等待的孩子接回家。
4. 為確保安全，學生必須待在辦公室前指定的區域。在任何時間，都不得穿越校園車道。
5. 大班、一年級以及二年級的學生，將在辦公室前迴廊的長椅等待。
6. 家長，請您填寫、印出此標示，並將其放置在擋風玻璃的右側，以加快接送學生的速度。
7. 請小心慢速駕駛。

線上班親會：

學校線上班親會將會延期到九月10日，禮拜五舉辦。因為防疫規章的緣故，家長們不能進入校園，所以學校會架設一個班親會專網，在網頁上將可看到所有老師預錄好的影片。因為這需要時間來策劃跟準備，所以這個網頁訂於九月10日，禮拜五，放學後提供給各位家長。

Senior Privileges Sign Out Form
Our MAK Seniors have the privilege to sign out of their study hall periods and leave campus. To be granted this privilege, parents of seniors must sign this form and return it to the MAK office. Seniors may not leave campus during school until we have this signature. A hard copy of this form can also be found in the Student Lounge.

12年級生專屬簽退表格
我們學校的12年級生擁有在他們自修課時間簽退並且離開校園的特權。為了取得此特權，12年級生的家長必須簽署此表格並且將其繳回學校辦公室。在我們取得家長簽名前，12年級生在校期間暫時不得離開校園。您也可以在學生休息室裡索取此表格。

Please have all books checked out over the summer turned back to the library as soon as possible. We have been so happy to see our students K-12 enjoying the newly renovated library. Thanks again for your generous donations!

REMINDER: Elementary After School Activities (ASA) begins on Tuesday, August 24th 
注意！小學課後活動將在八月24日(二)開始。

Dear Parents,

Many thanks for your quick response in signing up ASA’s for your children. Next Monday, August 23, the payment ticket will be sent home with your child. When you get the payment ticket, please check to see if the classes are accurate. If there are any errors, please kindly correct the class on the ticket directly. Please note that due to the COVID-19 restrictions, you DO NOT need to pay in person. Please leave the exact amount in a well-sealed  envelope (no change will be given) and put it in your child’s homework folder. The payment ticket is attached for your reference. 

各位家長您好！

感謝您如此快速地完成報名手續。下週一（八月廿三日），繳費單將交由您的孩子帶回。拿到繳費單後請您仔細核對報名班級是否正確，若有錯誤，請直接在繳費單上更正即可。由於防疫規定，您不需要親自到校繳費。請在信封內放上正確金額（不找零），密封好後將信封放到學生的作業資料夾內。繳費單如附圖供您參考，請知悉！

Reminder from the Health Clinic!

During the COVID-19 period, if students are sick and take leave, or have fever, diarrhea, sore throat, cough, runny nose, smell and taste abnormalities, it is best to seek medical treatment, and parents are requested to inform the health clinic (liui@ma.org.tw)and inform the situation so that the Health Clinic implements infection control.

If your child needs to take medicine during school, please give it to the office staff or school nurse. Do not let your child take the medicine by himself without supervision. We sincerely recommend that you try to let your children take medicine at home, and only let them bring medicine to school when necessary. If your child needs to take medicine, please send the following information and the Morrison Medication Administration Form to the office staff or school nurse. We will give the child medicine according to the doctor’s order. Please also attach the doctor’s prescription and the medicine. Put it in the medicine bag and clearly indicate the child’s name (grade), the dose of medicine and the time of taking the medicine.

Please remember if your child is a new student you need to turn in his/her health record form, complete with vaccine history and physical by Friday, August 27th!

保健室的提醒

現在正值新冠肺炎流行期間，學生如果有請病假，或者是有發燒、腹瀉、喉嚨痛、咳嗽、流鼻涕，或嗅覺味覺異常等症狀，最好儘速就醫診治，並且請家長能通知保健室，並告知其情形，好讓保健室執行感染管控。(liui@ma.org.tw)

若您孩子需要在學校期間服藥，請務必交給辦公室職員或校護，勿讓孩子在無人監督之下自行服用藥物。我們衷心建議您盡量讓孩子在家服藥，有必要時才讓孩子帶藥來學校。如果您的孩子需要在校服藥，請將以下資料和學生在校服用藥物表單交給辦公室職員或校護，我們將會依照醫師的醫囑給予孩子服用藥物 ，也請附上醫師處方箋以及把藥品放入藥袋內，並且在藥袋上清楚地標示孩子的姓名、年級、藥物劑量及服藥時間。

如果您是新生家長，請於八月27日(五)前繳交健康紀錄表，請完整填入先前預防針施打及健檢紀錄。

High School sports, boys soccer and girls volleyball are starting up! If you are interested in trying out please see Mr. Upchurch or the respective coach of the sport. 

Sports provide a great opportunity for you to gain experiences that will help prepare you for life after high school and are valuable to have on a college application. Come out and join a Shark team today! 

高中的運動練習已經開跑了！本季是男子足球和女子籃球的練習。如果您有興趣的話，請洽詢Mr. Upchurch或是該運動項目的教練。

運動可以幫助學生為著高中畢業後的生活，增加有益處的經驗值，也是在大學申請書上相當吸睛的經歷。來吧！來成為校隊一員吧！
