Dear students and parents,

On behalf of the staff and teachers at Morrison Academy Kaohsiung, I am happy to welcome you to the 2021-22 school year!  We are looking forward to a productive year filled with meaningful and purposeful learning opportunities for all of our students.    

As I walked through the hallways of our beautiful campus, I was amazed to see so much learning on the first day of school.  In elementary, I saw students learning their classroom rules, expectations, and daily routines.  Next, I saw middle school students being welcomed and enfolded into their respective new house groups.  Finally, it was amazing to see our high school students engage in academic discussions and demonstrate leadership during the house events.  Indeed, our first day of school was a tremendous success.  

Thank you, parents and guardians, for taking the time to review the new procedures with your child.  It was evident that many of our students understood the new guidelines in making MAK a safe and secure learning environment.   A sincere thanks to all of our parents and guardians.  

Our theme for the new school year will be “Everlasting Love” from Jeremiah 31:3, which says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” As we begin this new school year, I pray that each student will experience and encounter the everlasting love of Jesus Christ.  Please pray that Jesus will touch your child’s heart.  Also, please pray for your child’s teacher.  We need a lot of prayer during these uncertain times.  Most of all, please know that I am praying for all of our MAK families, and I look forward to an exciting year!  Thank you for your support and partnership. 親愛的學生及家長們，平安：

在2021-2022新學年開學之際，謹此代表高雄馬禮遜美國學校的全體教職員，歡迎您！我們期待在未來的一年裡，提供我們所有的學生富有意義及目的的學習機會，並結實纍纍、收穫豐盛！

當我走在我們美麗校園的走廊時，我很驚訝在開學的第一天，就看到如此豐富的學習在進行著。在小學，我看到小學生們努力學習他們的課堂規範、期待和常規。接著，我看到中學部的教師們隆重地迎接我們的中學生，而我們的中學生也被各自的新家小組盛大歡迎。最後，很高興看到我們的高中生在參與學術討論並在小組活動中所展現地領導力。我們在開學的第一天，就成功地邁開新學年的第一步。

各位家長以及監護人，感謝您花時間與您的孩子閱覽學校的新規範。顯而易見的，我們的學生都已經了解這些如何讓學校成為一個更安全可靠的學習環境的新規範。由衷地感謝各位家長以及監護人。

我們新學年的主題是“永不止息的愛”，出自聖經耶利米書31章3節：我以永不止息的愛愛你，因此我以慈愛吸引你。當我們開始全新的一個學年，我祈求神讓我們每一位學生都能經歷，並且遇見耶穌祂永不止息的愛。請禱告讓耶穌能摸著您孩子的心！同時，也請您為著孩子的老師們禱告。在面對許多的不確定之際，我們需要極多的禱告。最重要的是，我時刻為著馬禮遜所有的家庭禱告著，並歡欣期待這令人興奮的新學年！感謝您的支持與協助！Go Sharks!

School Closure Time

School ends at 3:15pm each day and parents should aim to pick up their children by 3:30pm at the “Pick Up Zone” if they are not riding the school bus home.

Beginning Tuesday, August 24, Elementary After School Activities and Middle School Sports will commence and take place between 3:30pm to 4:15pm every Tuesday and Thursday. Parents should pick up their children by 4:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Tuesday, August 24 if their children are participating in ASA or MS Sports.

Students who are participating in High School Team Sports will need to be picked up by 5:40pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays if they are not taking the High School shuttle bus home.

最後離校時間

學校每天在下午3:15放學，若不搭乘校車返家，家長應在下午3:30以前，於“接送區”把孩子接回家。

小學部的課後活動課程以及中學部的練習將於八月24日(二)開跑，時間固定是在每週二、四的下午3:30到4:15。因此，在八月24日之後的每週二、四，若您的小孩有參加小學課後活動以及中學運動練習，請您於4:30之前來接孩子回家。

參加高中校隊練習的學生，在每週一、三、五的練習後，若不搭乘晚班校車回家，則請您於下午5:40以前來接孩子回家。

Reminder from the Health Clinic!

During the COVID-19 period, if students are sick and take leave, or have fever, diarrhea, sore throat, cough, runny nose, smell and taste abnormalities, it is best to seek medical treatment, and parents are requested to inform the health clinic (liui@ma.org.tw)and inform the situation so that the Health Clinic implements infection control.

If your child needs to take medicine during school, please give it to the office staff or school nurse. Do not let your child take the medicine by himself without supervision. We sincerely recommend that you try to let your children take medicine at home, and only let them bring medicine to school when necessary. If your child needs to take medicine, please send the following information and the Morrison Medication Administration Form to the office staff or school nurse. We will give the child medicine according to the doctor’s order. Please also attach the doctor’s prescription and the medicine. Put it in the medicine bag and clearly indicate the child’s name (grade), the dose of medicine and the time of taking the medicine.

Please remember if your child is a new student you need to turn in his/her health record form, complete with vaccine history and physical by Friday, August 27th!

保健室的提醒

現在正值新冠肺炎流行期間，學生如果有請病假，或者是有發燒、腹瀉、喉嚨痛、咳嗽、流鼻涕，或嗅覺味覺異常等症狀，最好儘速就醫診治，並且請家長能通知保健室，並告知其情形，好讓保健室執行感染管控。(liui@ma.org.tw)

若您孩子需要在學校期間服藥，請務必交給辦公室職員或校護，勿讓孩子在無人監督之下自行服用藥物。我們衷心建議您盡量讓孩子在家服藥，有必要時才讓孩子帶藥來學校。如果您的孩子需要在校服藥，請將以下資料和學生在校服用藥物表單交給辦公室職員或校護，我們將會依照醫師的醫囑給予孩子服用藥物 ，也請附上醫師處方箋以及把藥品放入藥袋內，並且在藥袋上清楚地標示孩子的姓名、年級、藥物劑量及服藥時間。

如果您是新生家長，請於八月27日(五)前繳交健康紀錄表，請完整填入先前預防針施打及健檢紀錄。

Private Music Lessons
Morrison Academy provides an opportunity for students to receive private/class instrumental instruction once a week (30 minutes per lesson) based on teacher availability. If you are interested in having your child sign up for music lessons, please click here for the Sign Up Form or contact Miss Mai with any questions (maij@ma.org.tw) If you sign up, you will receive a bill for the private music lessons shortly, please do not send money with your child to school.

Friday, August 13: Sign-Up Forms to be sent by email at 10:00a.m.
Tuesday, August 17: Sign-Up Form will be closed
Thursday, August 19: Deadline to switch ASA classes

Monday, August 23: ASA Payment slip will be given to child to take home for parents
