This is a reminder that tomorrow, February 5th is a Half Day for Teachers’ PL. School will be dismissed at 11:30AM and the school buses will leave at 11:45AM. This is a system wide Professional Learning day for all teachers to meet, receive training, and learn from each other.
再次提醒您，明天二月5日(五)，學生只上半天課，下午則是老師們的專業教育訓練。我們當天會在11:30放學，校車則在11:45準時發車。教師教育訓練日是為了讓老師們進修、互相觀摩及學習而設立的。

Schedule Change Reminder
Tuesday, February 16th will be a regular day of school.  We will NOT hold an online practice day.  Classes will be in person and on campus.  We realize that this day is a national holiday.  If you plan on keeping your child at home on the 16th, please notify the front office and teachers as soon as possible.

ANNOUNCEMENT – 訊息公告

On February 3rd, the Taiwan Center for Disease Control (CDC) held a press conference announcing that public schools will begin their second semester on February 22nd, 4 work days later than the originally planned start on February 16th (English / Mandarin). The intent is to allow public schools sufficient time to clean and disinfect school facilities and equipment before the new semester begins in light of the on-going pandemic.

In their original announcement, the CDC stated that private kindergartens, cram schools, and other non-public locations for students are exempt from this delayed opening, provided they ensure their facilities are also given a thorough cleaning and other precautions taken. The MOE has granted international schools permission to make their own decisions regarding the return to school after the Chinese New Year holiday.  International schools have permission to return to school before 2/22. 

With that in mind, Morrison Academy’s Crisis Management Committee (CMC) plans to continue normal schooling as scheduled on February 16th. The CMC will continue to monitor CDC announcements throughout the holiday. Morrison will ensure that campuses are thoroughly sanitized and prepped before school begins. If there are any subsequent decisions made, the CMC will communicate those with staff and parents in as timely a manner as possible. Once the semester restarts, all pre-winter break health protocols will remain in effect.

在二月3日中央疫情指揮中心的記者會中，教育部長宣佈，考量國際疫情持續嚴峻，為確保開學前校園環境衛生安全、完備防疫作業與環境清潔消毒，高中以下各級學校（含公立幼兒園）延後4天至二月22日開學（中文資料來源）。

其他教育機構（私立幼兒園、非營利幼兒園、課照中心、補習班，等）可正常運作，並加強防疫措施。教育部亦准予外僑學校在農曆春節過後，按其行事曆於二月22日之前開始上課。

馬禮遜學校的危機處理小組預計依原訂行事曆，於二月16日開始上課。在農曆春節期間，該小組亦會持續關注中央疫情指揮中心的各項公告。馬禮遜學校會確保所有校區都在學生返校之前全面消毒完畢。如後有任何新的決定，危機處理小組也會儘快通知教職員和家長。2月16日返校後，學校仍將繼續執行所有防疫措施。

On Friday, February 19, Middle and High School students will participate in our annual Life Day. This year’s theme is: “Hope 21: Cultivate New Hope.” Chaplains from three Morrison campuses have planned a special day for our students, focused on the great HOPE that we have in Jesus Christ. We look forward to this great opportunity for our students to learn about and reflect on cultivating new hope in Jesus!
在二月19日(五)，中學生和高中生將全員參與今年的靈命成長日。今年的主題是：“希望21：培育新希望”。三個校區的負責人共同策劃此日的活動，期待讓學生能在這一天能把重點放在我們從耶穌基督而來的極大希望。我們很期待能透過這樣特別的一天，讓學生有機會去學習怎麼靠著耶穌基督培育新希望！

Morrison Academy Cross-Campus Math Olympiad – UPDATE!  
Because of the new Kaohsiung City policy regarding COVID and student travel, we will not be traveling to Taichung to compete in the Cross-Campus Math Olympiad.  Instead the competition will be held online, with MAK students competing from the MAK campus.

Date: Saturday, Feb 20, 1:00pm-5:00pm
Event Description:  Math game workshops for MAK students followed by a live online “guts round” where MAK groups compete simultaneously against MAC and MAT groups in a structured math challenge.

Note that this event will be heavily focused on collaboration between our students. Unlike the annual MAK Math Olympiad, the online competition is only a group activity!  Through this event we hope students will be able to explore mathematics outside of the classroom and grow in their teamwork with their classmates and friends.
Please fill out this digital registration form for each student interested in attending! Deadline for registration is Sunday, February 14th.   

馬禮遜美國學校跨校數學競賽 – 最新消息! 
由於高雄市政府對於疫情的新政策，今年的馬禮遜跨校數學競賽無法在台中舉行 。在與台中以及台北的數學社討論之後，我們決定在各自校區線上舉辦本次的活動！

日期：二月20日 (六) 下午一點～五點
活動內容：數學工作坊和三個分校之間的線上競賽。學生將分成小組並與台中和台北的其他組學生比賽。

本次馬禮遜線上跨校的活動與一年一度的MAK自己的數學競賽不同，我們將更注重於學生之間的合作！通過這次活動，我們希望學生能夠在數學課之外探索數學，並與同學和朋友建立團隊合作關係。

Dear MAK parents and students,
Due to the new regulation that the Kaohsiung government set up on 1/27 (Wednesday), we will not be able to host the Talent Show on 2/27. However, we have decided to push back the date of the Talent Show to 3/20 (Saturday), from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. 

Here are some adjustments we’ve made to fit with the new date:
Early Bird ticket: 300nt before 2/19 (Friday)
Regular ticket: 400nt before 3/12 (Friday)

Regarding the video audition submit date, we have decided to push the deadline back to 2/16 (Tuesday)! This means that you have the Chinese New Year break to rehearse and to film your audition videos. Acceptance/rejection/call-backs letters of notification will be announced on Friday, February 19th. Call-back live auditions will be held during lunch hours. 

Again, we will be following a series of precautions for Covid-19. If you would like to understand how we will be applying these precautions, feel free to check this document out.

由於高雄衛生局在一月27日所公布的新規定，今年的達人秀因此延期至三月20日(六)晚上5:30到8:00。

以下是我們為因應延期所做的一些調整：

二月19日(五)前 早鳥票 300元/張
三月12日(五)前 一般票 400元/張

試鏡影片繳交截止日則延至二月16日，如此一來，大家能利用春節期間去彩排並錄製試鏡影片。我們將於二月19日前公布試鏡結果。必要時，我們將會另行安排現場甄選。

Middle School Volleyball Update:
MS volleyball games have been cancelled this month due to the city restrictions.
The MS volleyball tournament that was scheduled for March 6th has been pushed back one week to March 13th. This delay is due to the recent Covid concerns which restricted some schools in our sports league to be able to participate within the original time frame. Please send any questions or concerns to Mr. Gregg at (greggj@mca.org)

因為市政府發布的防疫政策，我們取消這個月中學部所有的排球賽事。
