Dear Parents and Guardians,

The family-School partnership is strong at MAK, but we’d like to make it even better by ensuring our program meets the needs of families, students, and teachers. You can help us form a better partnership between school and home by answering the questions on the survey.

Please click on the link to complete the survey – Elementary Parent Survey.

There are only a few questions, so we would appreciate your participation.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Yearbook retakes are happening on the 17th and 18th of January! The yearbook staff will notify individual children that need a retake. If you missed your yearbook headshot in the Fall, now is also the time to make-up that photo.
2023年 1月17,18日要舉行大頭照重拍。老師會另行通知需要重拍或沒拍到的學生。

Dear MAK Family,

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your overwhelming support of the Giving Project this year! We are excited to report that this week our MAK teachers and students are delivering all the gifts and donations so that the seniors in Jia Cheng community can enjoy them right away! It is an incredible privilege to see their smiling faces as they see your kindness and experience your love. We look forward to more opportunities in the future, as MAK hopes to keep extending God’s love to our surrounding neighbors. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Yesterday’s visits were a smashing success! The main comment we got was how they were suffering from the cold. So our donations have reached them in a nick of time. Mr. Lu has been wearing the warm socks we gave him and he told me that for the first time this month his feet haven’t been hurting him and we are hoping his severely chapped feet will heal (I’ve gone over to apply coconut oil and that has worked wonders – I’ll be getting some more from our CSL stash today). At the last moment we switched up the heaters we were giving out to meet unique needs and the recipients were so grateful. They are excited to be getting beds this next week and we’ll be ordering extra shelving and cabinets as new needs have become apparent. In addition to these last minute donations we have received warm winter coats that we will be giving out tonight and tomorrow. Thank you so much for being passionate about serving others! You are making a big difference.

Basketball Exchange 12/10 @ MAC

VARSITY BOYS

MAK 57 – MAC 59

Stepping onto the court as equals against opponents from larger high schools and sports programs is second nature to your MAK Sharks Varsity Boys Basketball team. We took the court in Taichung against the MAC Mustangs expecting an exhilarating matchup and that’s what we got. In what would be a game defining 2nd quarter, shots weren’t falling for the Sharks that usually do while the Mustangs were hitting from 3 point range. The Mustangs took a double digit lead into halftime on the strength of this long range attack. In the second half, defensive adjustments by the Sharks quieted the Mustang sharpshooters, but the double digit deficit persisted into the 4th quarter. However, in a 3 minute stretch late in the game, the Sharks went on an amazing 14-2 run, bringing us all the way back. It came to the final seconds but we couldn’t quite take the lead, eventually losing by 2. Senior Joseph Tsai was dominant with 28 points and something like 3000 blocked shots. MAK is very much looking forward to welcoming the Mustangs to the Shark Tank later this season…

MAK 71-ICA 58

Scarcely more than an hour after a physically and emotionally draining defeat, the MAK Varsity Boys showed grit and determination in gutting out a win against ICA. The Sharks took a commanding lead from the beginning, starting the game up 16-0. They would never relinquish this large advantage and closed out a tiring day of basketball with an impressive win. Joseph Tsai, Brandon Chen, James Lei, and Josh Yuan all scored in double figures as every member of the Sharks team had a chance to play. Way to go, Sharks!

JV BOYS

MAK 37 – 59 MAC

The boys traveled up early Saturday morning to face off against the MAC Mustangs. With minimal time to warm up, the Sharks held on to a 6-point deficit by the end of the first quarter. The boys kept fighting, yet we had too many turnovers in addition to being outrebounded. Despite the loss, it was a good learning experience for the team.

Highlights:
Huan 10pts
Bryan 9pts

MAK 36 – 58 MAT

The JV Boys went against the MAT Broncos in their second game of the exchange. Facing off another tough opponent, the sharks did not lose heart. They battled head to head with a team that is much bigger in size. Nevertheless, we found ourselves trailing and fell short at the end. Sharks will go against KAS this Thursday at the Shark tank!

JV GIRLS

Sharks 38 – Mustangs 28

The JV Girls came out strong against rival MAC for the first game of the exchange. The Sharks jumped out to an early 9 point 1st quarter lead behind an aggressive defense. The Mustangs were not able to recover, despite cutting the Shark lead to 4 points in the 3rd quarter. The Sharks showed poise, patience, and selflessness to pick up their second win of the season. Six different players scored – the leading scorers were Sophie (9) with 11 pts, Phoebe (8) with 7 pts, and Audrey (9) had 6 pts. The Sharks moved to 2-1 on the season and undefeated against JV competition.

Sharks 40 – ICA 20

Coming off a statement victory against the Mustangs at the exchange, the JV Girls followed up with a dominant win against ICA’s varsity team. Despite starting slow, the Sharks battled fatigue to establish a 17 point lead at the half. Ultimately, ICA was no match for the Sharks’ speed and determination. Sophie (9) led the scoring with 12 pts; Phoebe (8) had 8 pts; Audrey (9) had 6 points; Claire (11) scored 5 points. The Sharks improve to 3-1 on the season. They look to continue their streak this Thursday (Dec. 15th) against KAS’s JV team.

On Friday, December 16, the elementary students will be participating in a special Christmas-themed library reading activity. Elementary students have the option of wearing their pajamas to school for the half-day and bringing an appropriately sized stuffed animal to school if they would like. Stuffed animals should be able to easily fit into their backpacks. Due to space constraints, only students and teachers are able to join in this activity at this time. Please see the flyer below for more information!

Hello MAK Students & Parents!

From the minds of the Economist Club, now known as FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), we are here to share a new business venture.

Our club aims to bring new ideas to Morrison’s students, staff, and parents with new products to buy. Currently, we are working with MAK Office to make the Shark Shop student-run by FBLA club. Our first project is Varsity Jackets that allows everyone to create a custom, personalized design unique to themselves. However, we wanted to add more new products to the Shark Shop, so we are here to ask all of you what you would like or be interested in seeing.

With that said, please click this form to input your opinion on what you want to see made and designed by FBLA Club.

Thank you!!
