School Closure Time

School ends at 3:15pm each day and parents should aim to pick up their children by 3:30pm at the “Pick Up Zone” if they are not riding the school bus home.

Beginning Tuesday, August 23, Elementary After School Activities and Middle School Sports will commence and take place between 3:30pm to 4:15pm every Tuesday and Thursday. Parents should pick up their children by 4:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Tuesday, August 23 if their children are participating in ASA or MS Sports.

Students who are participating in High School Team Sports will need to be picked up by 5:40pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays if they are not taking the High School shuttle bus home.

學校每天在下午3:15放學，若不搭乘校車返家，家長應在下午3:30以前，於“接送區”把孩子接回家。

小學部的課後活動課程以及中學部的練習將於八月23日(二)開跑，時間固定是在每週二、四的下午3:30到4:15。因此，在八月23日之後的每週二、四，若您的小孩有參加小學課後活動以及中學運動練習，請您於4:30之前來接孩子回家。

參加高中校隊練習的學生，在每週一、三、五的練習後，若不搭乘晚班校車回家，則請您於下午5:40以前來接孩子回家。

ASA – After School Activities

Dear Parents, 

A new school year starts today! Please note the ASA Sign-up Schedule below and save the dates in your calendar to avoid missing the chance. 

Aug. 11 The ASA Description will be sent out to the parent’s email box at 9.30am. You can have a discussion with your kid.

Aug. 12 The ASA Sign-up form will be sent out to the parents at 9.30am. It will be CLOSED on Aug. 15 at noon. 

Aug. 16 The deadline of changing class. Please email Ms. Yang through email(joan.yang@ma.org.tw) by noon if needed. 

Aug. 23 ASA starts, and room teachers pass the ASA Payment Tickets to students.

Please note that you have to pick up your kid at 3:25 on Aug. 11, 16, and 18 since there are no supervised activities provided before ASA starts this year. Many thanks for your understanding and cooperation!

I am happy to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year!  MAK will begin the new school year with in-person classroom learning on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022.  In order to ensure a safe and secure learning environment, MAK will continue to follow all Covid-19 government regulations mandated by the Education Bureau of Kaohsiung City Government.  Please carefully read the information below.

Friendly Reminders on MAK Drop-Off and Pick-Up ProceduresMorning Drop-Off Procedures:After the first day of school, parents are to drive onto campus and drop off their child.  Please do not leave your vehicle.  Once the child safely exits the vehicle, please drive forward and exit the campus. Dismissal Procedure for Non-Bus Students: Due to the school buses, no personal vehicles will be allowed onto campus during dismissal.  Please park your vehicles along the Pick-Up Zone on Jiacheng Road.Parents entering campus must wear a face mask at all times. At 3:10 pm (M, W, F) / 4:10 pm (T, Th), parents are permitted to enter the campus to pick-up their child. Elementary Only: Parents will walk to the courtyard, as this will be the designated and supervised pick-up area for elementary students. Due to Covid-19, parents are NOT PERMITTED to enter the school buildings.If you are late, please pick up your child at the office.  Water Bottle:Please ensure that your child packs their water bottle labeled with their name to school every day.

Covid-19 Government Regulations Implemented at MAK 

Government Quarantine Regulations According to the Ministry of Education, students can attend school AFTER the 3+4 Days are completed.  Students can attend school during the self-health management days.Overseas Arrivals (3+4):  3-day home quarantine + 4-day self-initiated epidemic prevention Confirmed as a COVID Case (7+7):  7-day home care + 7-day self-health management Identified as Close Contacts (3+4 or 0+7)Not Fully Vaccinated Close Contact (i.e., students): 3-day home quarantine + 4-day self-initiated epidemic prevention Fully Vaccinated+Boosted Close Contact: 7-day self-initiated epidemic prevention NOTE: Red highlight means NOT permitted to school; Green means YES

Beginning of the Year Covid-19 Government RegulationsFace Masks: Everyone on campus needs to wear a mask.  However, masks can be taken off during outdoor recess, P.E., and when eating.   Teachers are NOT permitted to take off their masks when providing classroom instruction.Lunch Dividers:Students will continue to use lunch dividers when eating.Hand Sanitization: MAK will continue to have hand sanitizing stations available for students and staff to use. Sports: Students participating in sports activities do NOT have to wear a mask while participating in a match or game, but masks will need to be worn when they are on the sidelines or bench.Music: Students are permitted to take off their masks when playing a musical instrument (e.g., band). Visitors on Campus: Campus access is currently limited.  The MAK campus is open to employees, students, school contractors, and those identified by the school as necessary at this time. 我很高興歡迎您來到 2022 – 23 學年！MAK 將於 2022 年 8 月 10 日，星期三，開始新的學年，全校將恢復實體課程。為落實本校開學後，各教學及活動等防疫工作，確保師生健康，MAK將持續落實執行高雄市政府教育局所有 Covid-19 相關防疫措施。請仔細閱讀以下信息。

MAK 接送孩子指引早上接送指引：開學第一天後，家長可開車進入校園接送孩子。請不要離開您的轎車。 一旦孩子安全下車，請向前行駛，並離開校園。 非搭乘校車之放學接送指引：因為校車的緣故，放學期間將不允許私人轎車進入校園。請將您的轎車停放在嘉誠路的指定接送區。家長入校園時應全程佩戴口罩。 下午 3：10（星期一、三、五）/ 下午 4：10 （星期二、四），家長可進入校園接送孩子。僅幼兒園：家長應到庭院，指定與監督接送區接送小學生。因應 COVID-19 疫情，家長不得進入學校建築。如果您遲到，請至辦公室接您的孩子。 水瓶：請確保您的孩子每天將標有其姓名的水瓶帶到學校。

MAK 依據政府規定所實施之防疫政策 

政府檢疫規定 根據教育部的規定，學生可於 「3+4」結束後，後續自我健康管理期間返校上學。海外入境 （3+4）：3 天居家檢疫 + 4 天自主防疫 確診者 （7+7）： 7 天居家隔離 + 7 天自主健康管理 確診者之密切接觸者（3+4 or 0+7）未打滿 3 劑疫苗接種者 (舉例：學生)： 3 天居家隔離 + 4 天自主防疫 打滿 3 劑疫苗接種者： 7 天自主防疫 注意：紅色表示「不允許」上學； 綠色表示「允許」

年初依據政府規定所實施之防疫政策口罩： 全校（園）教職員及學生除用餐、飲水、體育課程，等外，應全程佩戴口罩。  老師進行校（園）內課程務必配戴口罩。 用餐隔板：學生用餐時將持續使用隔板。 手部衛生： MAK 將持續提供體溫量測器供學生和教職員使用。  體育課程： 體育課應全程佩戴口罩，但從事運動時得不佩戴口罩。師生應隨身攜帶口罩，於課程期間無運動行為或運動結束後，仍需佩戴口罩。 音樂及舞蹈課程： 師生進行歌唱、音樂吹奏、舞蹈類之課程及教學活動，可不戴口罩，但於課程開始前及結束後，仍須佩戴口罩。 來賓、家長及訪客：入校訪問目前仍然有限。MAK 校園僅開放於教職員、學生、入校工作人員及經 MAK 認定有入校（園）必要者。感謝您的理解和支持。

Dear Parents,

Music private lessons are available for students who would like to learn to play an instrument during school hours. Music teachers will communicate with classroom teachers and parents before finalizing lesson times. Private lessons are offered once a week and each lesson is 30-minutes long. Please look through this private lesson registration form for more descriptions. You can register here or return the registration form to the front office. Thank you!

There will be a swim team meeting on Friday August 12 at MS1 during lunchtime from 11:50~12:15 for students G6-12 who are interested in joining. I will provide information on our schedule and practices during the meeting. If your child desires to join the swim team but cannot make it to the meeting please email me: paul.j.liao@ma.org.tw. Two time Taiwan national women chess champion, Freshman Sophie Tsai is the youngest member in the team to represent Taiwan at the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Chennai, India.
