TISSA Track

This past weekend, members of the MAK Track & Field team, Grace Im, Eric Sato, John Kwon, Caleb Dang, Shane Chin, Nicole Rodriguez, Tabby Dang, and Karesse Chou made the trip to the MAC campus to compete in the annual TISSA Track & Field event.

Grace Im led the 4×100 relay team to second place. The relay team consisted of Nicole, Tabby, and Karesse. Grace also achieved third place in the 100-meter dash.

Eric Sato achieved second place in the 100, 200, and 400-meter dash.

Nicole Rodriguez achieved 1st place in her flight for discus and 5th overall. She also participated in the shot put and 200m dash.

-Congratulations to Shane Chin who competed in discus and threw a personal best of 27.09 meters, 9 meters improvement from his previous best. Shane Chin was placed 6th overall and competed in a final that looked like David versus Goliath.

John Kwon embodied the very essence of perseverance. He competed in the 400m and the 800 meters. John ran a personal best of 2:22 min in the 800 meters, missing third place by a hundredth of a second. John left everything on the track, he also left his innermost contents in Taichung and experienced cruciating pain after the race that caused him to sit out of the 4×100 meter relay. He did however experience a resurrection and came first in his heat coming from behind and ranked 6th overall. Great effort, John!

Tabby Dang came first in her heat and achieved second overall in the 400-meter dash and third place in the long jump. She never practiced once and ran an unforgettable race. Tabby was reluctant to run the 400m dash as her legs felt fatigued from competing in the 200-meter dash. She showed tenacity and ran the 400-meter dash and shocked all of us.

-Final congratulations to Karese Chou who competed in 100, 200, 400, 4×100 meter relay for girls and boys and in the long jump. She was placed 1st in the 100-meter dash and ran a personal best of 14.1 seconds. She is also our only gold medalist for 2022. Well done, Karesse!

Upcoming MS basketball Games Thursday– 6th, 7th, and 8th boys teams will be bussed one way to KAS from MAK at 2:30 PM. The games are scheduled to start at 3:30 PM. Parents will be asked to arrange pick-up for your children from KAS after the game, at approximately 4:20 PM. Parents, please discuss this with your children if they are on one of these basketball teams. Due to recent inflation in Covid cases, KAS has closed its campus to outside spectators.

Let’s MAKe a Difference – 2021-22 Annual Fund:

The Annual Fund is an exciting time when we can come together as a community to enhance our students’ learning experience and environment.  Indeed, the Annual Fund is an opportunity for our community to generously give and take ownership of the school facilities.

Our goal for this year’s Annual Fund is to raise 800,000 NT with a 100% participation rate from Monday, March 7th through Friday, May 20th, 2022.  We hope everyone can maximize this opportunity to “MAKe a Difference” for our school.  The Annual Fund will purchase school furniture to furnish the elementary, middle school, and high school common area spaces throughout the campus.

Here are the rooms we hope to furnish with new furniture:
